The community is bordered on the south and west byHillsboro, withCornelius Pass Roaddividing the two on the west and theSunset Highwayas the dividing line on the south. According to theUnited States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 kmsup>2/sup>), all land.

An unincorporated community,Rock creekdoes not have a municipal government. Government services are provided by a variety of regional districts. The area lies within both theHillsboro School Districtand theBeaverton School District. Fire protection is provided byTualatin Valley Fire & Rescue,Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, andWashington County Fire District 2. Law enforcement comes from the Washington County Sheriff. Rock creek is within thePortland metropolitan area's regional government,Metro, while parks are provided by theTualatin Hills Park & Recreation District.
